MCK Global are now hiring a Project Manager for a highly successful timber structure construction company based in Canada.  As a brief background the position is with one of Canada’s leading timber structure companies. They are involved in the design, fabrication and erection of innovative timber structures across Canada and the United States such as long span roofs, tall wood buildings, seismic structures, free form structures and large scale mass timber structures. The company in question breaks new ground in design concepts, sophistication, craftsmanship and quality, and their work has been recognised internationally, including numerous awards for innovation in timber construction.  

As a Project Manager you will be working directly with the companies clients as well as working closely with all teams to ensure all projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget and also to the highest quality.  You will also be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Creating schedules and coordinating all resources to meet project deliverable’s
  • Leading quality assurance.
  • Provide onsite construction support
  • Present to management reports on progress as well as problems and solutions

The successful candidate will have: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of construction related project management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in building science, construction management, or engineering
  • PMP designation or be in process to obtaining
  • Experience managing construction projects with values in excess of $5M

Structural Engineer – Canada

MCK Global are presently looking for a Structural Engineer with Timber or Grasshopper experience to join one of Canada’s leading structure construction companies.

As a brief background the position is with a successful Timber structures construction company involved in the design, fabrication and erection of innovative timber structures across Canada and the United States such as long span roofs, tall wood buildings, seismic structures, free form structures and large scale mass timber structures. The company in question breaks new ground in design concepts, sophistication, craftsmanship and quality, and their work has been recognised internationally, including numerous awards for innovation in timber construction.  As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for creating practical and efficient designs while working with architects as well as the detailing and management team.  Your role also involves – but not limited to – providing engineering reports to clients, performing detailed structural design and detailing, including calculations and static/dynamic finite element modelling and liaising with the internal project management team to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.

Requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or a related Engineering Degree). SE is an asset.
  • At least 4 years of experience working as structural engineer (preferred 2 years of experience in timber engineering although this is not a essential).
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with Finite Element software and significant experience performing calculations. Knowledge of Rhino/Grasshopper/AutoCAD is an asset.

Computational Designer – Canada

MCK Global are currently recruiting a Computational Designer for one of Canada’s most established timber structure engineering companies.

As a brief background the position is with a successful Timber structures construction company involved in the design, fabrication and erection of innovative timber structures across Canada and the United States such as long span roofs, tall wood buildings, seismic structures, free form structures and large scale mass timber structures. The company in question breaks new ground in design concepts, sophistication, craftsmanship and quality, and their work has been recognised internationally, including numerous awards for innovation in timber construction.  The role of Computational Designer is an important one as they are responsible for carrying out the production of drawings and 3D models, sketching design details, and coordinating each project design with both external design teams and internal project management / engineering teams.

The successful candidate must have:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years detailing and 3D modelling experienc
  • Knowledge in all aspects of building structures and materials is expected
  • Able to translate architectural and structural drawings and specifications into accurate drawings for fabrication and erection.
  • Knowledge of industry codes, specifications, and standards.

Candidates will also be expected to become fluent in the software used including hsbCAD and Rhino/Grasshopper.
